Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones are districts located in economically distressed communities that encourage new investment capital in existing businesses. These zones allow for an investor to defer the taxes on capital gains to the extent that a corresponding amount is invested in the Qualified Opportunity Fund. If held for a minimum of ten (10) years, investors may not be taxed on the appreciation of the original investment. The City of Zanesville has two opportunity zones that are eligible for new commercial redevelopment.
